Top 3 Thursday – Book Quotes That Stuck With Me

I love Top 3 Thursday. Have I mentioned that? 1. It makes sure I post every week! And 2. I love seeing other people’s answers! So definitely a huge thanks to the lovely Mel for starting it up!

This weeks theme is ‘Book Quotes that Stuck With Me’. Now there are many. But will I be able to remember them all? No. And will my list possibly miss out on some of my all time faves? Probably. Because I just can’t remember. Which sounds stupid when it’s quotes that have stuck with me… but anyway! Continuing on!

1. ‘Happiness can be found even in the darkest times if one only remembers to turn on the light’ – Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, JK Rowling

This quote means everything to me. As someone who regularly deals with anxiety, I can often end up in some pretty dark places. And somehow in those times, Albus Dumbledore speaks to me. While it may not always pull me out of those dark places, it does remind me to try and find happiness. I fully believe that if you look for happy things during your day, the day gets better. Somethings as simple as getting a seat on the train, or your hair feeling pretty, or having a bath… List those things. Focus on the good!

2. ‘Don’t let the hard days win‘ – A Court of Mist and Fury, Sarah J Maas

Similarly to the above Dumbledore quote, this one speaks to me. Because we will have bad days. And that’s okay. We’re allowed bad days. But don’t let them win against us. Don’t let the bad days dictate our good days. I really appreciate this quote because it’s so simple. It’s just a simple instruction that can be so hard to follow. But if we follow it, we allow ourselves bad days – but just promise to not let them rule us.

3. ‘To a great mind, nothing is little‘ – A Study in Scarlet, Arthur Conan Doyle

I love Sherlock Holmes. Possibly more because of Robert Downey Jnr and Benedict Cumberbatch. But I’ve always loved Sherlock. And I love this quote – because for me, it just holds possibilities. Nothing is little. Anything can be important! We just need to have the mind power to see and believe that.
