Top 3 Thursday – Books That Disappointed Me

Hello friends! We’re already halfway through January?! How did that happen? But we’re back with Top 3 Thursday! Remember to go check out the upcoming topics over on Mel’s blog and join in the fun!

Today’s topic is Books That Disappointed Me. Not the funnest topic but a very very important one! And one we’re sometimes scared to talk about – or is that just me?

Anyway here they are in no particular order.

1. The Hazel Wood By Melissa Albert

I just wanted so much more! It was pitched as a dark fairytale and it was just a boring journey. Hardly any of it even took place in the Hazel Wood! And the main characters were horribly unlikable and we’re horrible to each other!

2. An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson

I love books about faeries. And magic. But this just kinda fell short. Again, it was just a journey. A boring journey. I also didn’t believe the romance between the two protagonists. There was no build-up, it was just all of a sudden ‘I love you’. Thank u, next.

3. The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

There was sooooo much hype about this book. And I really wanted to like it. But both Jude and Cardan are terrible characters. I know some authors like writing unlikable characters, but I just don’t care about these two right now. Hopefully this will change in The Wicked King (which I am looking forward to reading!)

Probably some harsh choices here – because I know lots of people who loved all these books! But they somehow didn’t measure up to my expectations – and that’s okay! We don’t all have to like the same things – that would be boring!

What books have you been disappointed with? Or do you agree/disagree with mine?

Happy readings loves!
