Book Suggestion Sunday – Stalking Jack the Ripper – Kerri Maniscalco

Today’s book series for Book Suggestion Sunday is the Stalking Jack the ripper series by Kerri Maniscalco – and I LOVE this series! Thriller, crime, romance – whats not to like?

Title: Stalking Jack the Ripper

Author: Kerri Maniscalco

Genre: Historical Crime

Age Classification: YA

Publisher: Little, Brown and Company

Publication Date: September 20th, 2016

I bought this book purely because of bookstagram. I saw it in photos and wanted a copy because it looked pretty! I didn’t think I would like it. I’m not good with blood and sometimes crime stories can freak me out a bit. But when I started the book, I was amazed at how much I was drawn into the story. And since then, the other two books have just helped cement this series as one of my faves! The other two books so far are: Hunting Prince Dracula and Escaping from Houdini. The last book Capturing the Devil is due out late 2019.

I think placing the story in historically well known situations, or with historically well known people helps to draw people in. Everyone knows about Jack the Ripper, and the mystery around who this killer was. So when a story purports to know who it was and involves you in finding out who it was (in this story at least), you just want to read more! And Dracula and Houdini are both just as well known, and provide great story-telling pieces for Maniscalco’s books.

In the series, I actually enjoyed the second book the most. We found out more about Thomas, we saw Audrey-Rose grow up a little more, and it just felt like the most cohesive story. Speaking of Thomas and Audrey-Rose – if one doesn’t swoon while reading Thomas Cresswell scenes, one is not reading them properly. Every girl deserves a Thomas. He is fantastic, and I love the witty repartee they have with each other. I am eagerly awaiting the next book – it is one of my most anticipated reads this year!
