When I heard about a book that was Les Miserables meets Six of Crows I almost died from excitement! And when I received an ARC – a stunning ARC by the way – I squealed out loud. This book has so much potential!
Set in an alternate Paris where the French Revolution failed, you are introduced to the Court of Miracles – the 9 underworld criminal guilds that everyone must be a part of to gain protection. Our main character is Nina – or the well known Eponine Thernardier from Les Mis! The story follows her trying to protect her younger sister Ettie – or Cosette – from one of the guilds.
I think my favourite part of this was all the Les Miserables references. I loved meeting these versions of Enjolras, Valjean, the Thernardiers, Javert… They were such different but familiar characters at the same time! There were some great musical lyrics references as well which may have had me singing almost the the entire time I was reading!
There were a few issues I found when reading – but I believe these may have been due to it being an ARC and not a finished copy. It was still a super enjoyable read and I’m really keen to know how this story continues! It was a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ star read for me!
Happy readings,
