I know I am usually one to review YA fantasy, but what you might not know about me is that I adore a cute romance! So when I was given the chance to be on Penguin Books Australia’s blog tour for this absolutely adorable book, I jumped at the chance!
This story focuses on Hannah and Sonny, both of whom aren’t in for long term relationships, but both of whom are ridiculously attracted to each other! And I mean, Sonny does sound like a dreamboat, so I completely understand! But what they think will be a short flirtation takes a turn. The next time Hannah sees Sonny, he is an emotional wreck. And so starts their story – for real. They start getting to know each other better and start finding out why neither of them can handle long term relationships.
I finished this book in a matter of hours. It kept me up reading until 3am, and only once I’d finished could I put it down. Hannah and Sonny were an absolute dream to read about. Their friends were great, and I loved the English setting. Having lived in England before I could 100% picture what their setting was like. But most of all I loved that an adorable contemporary romance book could deal with some heavy hitting issues, primarily abuse and grief. These issues are treated with so much respect and grace. Paige Toon should be commended on her writing of these potentially traumatic scenes.
Overall I laughed, I cried and I wanted another book. It was such a beautiful story – one that makes you believe in love again, and one that makes you believe that you can overcome your own trials. If you haven’t already got yourself a copy of this, what are you waiting for. A gorgeous romance with real life on the side. It’s everything you could ever want. It’s a solid 4 stars from me.
Happy reading,
