Review: Terraliese by C. L. A. Simpson

I just want to start by saying a huge thank you to Read the Book Tours for selecting me to open this book tour! And also – this book is GORGEOUS! The. Over is completely stunning, it includes a fun that I referenced the whole way through, and it used a font different to what I am used to! 😍

Blurb:

Terraleise turns 18, only to discover she is now gifted with the elemental power of Earth. Terra grew up on the outskirts of the town of Lex in the Kingdom of Lygot, where the only food Terra and her family ate was the food she caught, if she was lucky. The only thing about elemental gifts are that, the only people to have them are those that have royal blood. Childhood friends with Prince of Lygot, Terra confides in Silas only to quickly discover that she is about to be thrown into a life she never dreamed to be a part of, discovering all of the secrets entwined with her past, and her future. The Heir to a Kingdom that has been overthrown by a corrupt branch of her very own blood line, Terra and Silas journey across the ocean to ensure the era of peace that has long since held does not end. The time before peace brought with it unspeakable horrors. Time is running out to keep Vaashaa from reliving the same fate, with all four kingdoms being brought to their knees. Terra will have to learn what it is to have courage and be brave, becoming someone she never thought she ever would, or ever could be. Discovering love along the way, Terraleise will be forced with the possibility of sacrificing it all and herself. Will the lost child of the crown find her rightful place?

Thoughts:

This book was incredibly easy to read and easy to get lost in. I read the entire thing within four hours and was completely satisfied! There was romance, magic and intrigue which all added to the enjoyment of reading.

The magic in this book was interesting! Elemental magic is always a fun one to read about! I enjoyed that having magic was unique to the Royal lines, but that the type of elemental magic wasn’t limited to one element per royal line. It was almost like a wild guess of what each royal would get! It also helped add to some of the mystery of who Terra was and where she belonged. While I would’ve liked to see more of the magic used in certain situations, I’m excited to see where it is taken in the next book.

The romance in the book was cute and I am keen to see where it goes in the next books! It’s a friends to lovers storyline so far – so be warned if that’s not your thing! 😂 I also liked that we got POVs for both Terra and Silas. Multiple points of view always add to the depth of the book in my opinion and knowing both Silas and Terra’s sides also added to the plot and intrigue. We got a lot of background information on Terra and saw how her family treated her throughout the book. I’ll be interested to see how/if that affects Terra later on.

And no book with royalty would be complete without political unrest! While there is obviously tension in the land, you don’t see it completely play out in this particular book. Instead, it sets itself up and gives us a taste for what must be coming in the next books. Plus who doesn’t love a lost heir storyline? And a cliffhanger!

This is a fun introduction to what I can imagine will be a sweet series! I look forward to seeing how the characters and world are developed further. Luckily the next book Heir of Vaashaa is out super soon! Again thank you to Read the Book Tours and to Celine the author for sending me a review copy of the book.

This was a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Star read for me!

Happy readings!
